What Does It Cost To Get Someone To Do It For You ?

Because of our knowledge but, without knowing your exact project we can project what the "Average Labor Cost" may be  ;

1) On Average We Charge $50. Per Hour Minimum For Our Labor including prorated drive time &  cost of any other time required , others charges may very.

2) Then, there will be the chemicals. We only suggest the use of the best and the longest lasting + Lowest
Toxicity products, available. We like to let the bugs do the work for us, so it will be an easier pill, for them to swallow. Unfortunately , they won't crawl into our bottles & commit suicide . We do however, know how to make it easy for them, to want to do so . Read our  article on Baits at the bottom of this page.

Roaches: Budget For Labor & Materals About $95.00 to $110. Every 6 Months
An average 1200 sq ft house requires about 1 hour 
of labor for Roaches.
This should be all you need for 6 months+ , plus the chemical cost, ( see the product info below ). Chemicals for this amount of work are about $45.00 so , that is about $15.83 a month, L & Mat's, when you average it out over 6 months. Baits & materials for this process could run $15 extra dollars also. If you do pest control yourself , it will be even less expensive.

Fleas: Budget For Labor & Materials About $95.00 Everytime You Have The Need
For Fleas it takes about the same amount of time to
do the inside work . The chemicals are different ( see below ) & they can run about $60.00 a bottle, but your cost per needed treatment can very , depending upon the mix strength & amount  used  for you situation . The time required for application , will very because of the circumstances from where you get Fleas but 1 hour of labor at the site is common.

If  all are killed inside & any eggs left, can't hatch,  because of the addition of I.G.R.'s to the "soup", Well your good for quite a while . If they came from your pets & you also cure that problem too, on the day you do your inside work & if there are no other new additions, your pretty much out of the Flea business.

Ants : Budget For Labor & Materials About $95.00 Per 6 Months.
Ants forage anytime the ground is 65 degrees and they hatch new Ants daily 365 days a year. 1/2 their diet is Protein and 1/2 their diet is sugar . The time spent inside stopping living Ants is short, as its simple work & any liquid spray will kill your new home invaders; but, there is more required. We want the Ants working for you also !

For Ants ,a little more time should be spent outside + sometimes also under the building . A  Perimeter Granule against the foundation , extending 10 ft away is strongly suggested plus kill the Ant mounds in the near yard. Additionally , a baiting of the ants foraging near your building is suggested too.

This sometimes all takes a little longer than 1 hour total inside & outside combined + chemicals can run nearly the same as above. So, again , about $15.83 a month+ , if averaged out over 6 months of effectiveness, but - liquid applications of  99% of today's chemicals don't last more than about 15 to 30 days due to bio- degradation . Dry granules react to moisture , therefore if they get wet ofter, they will degrage faster than the 30 days projected. Also pest baiting of wider areas and the adding of wider than just 10 feet from your building of repelling granules as a perimeter , will cost more time & materials , perhaps more than we can know, from our cheap seats , way over here. It is required for all pest problems, for us to have a look before we could promise, any solid cost projections .

It is certain, that a wider area of granules & baiting + killing , all of the living mounds that you can find, with liquid sprays, should  lengthen your time between treatment intervals.

PRIOR TO TREATMENTS A COMPLETE CLEANUP SHOULD BE DONE. VACUME THE CARPETS AND FURNITURE, WASH THE CURTINS IF PRACTICAL , PILLOWS TOO AND ALL PET BEDS SHOULD BE WASHED. THE CAT & DOGS SHOULD BE DIPPED WHILE THE TREATMENT IS ON GOING SO THEY RE-ENTER THE STRUCTURE AS CLEAN.

Example Information:
Most Often, At A Concentrated 36% Strength Permethrin , Warm Tap Water is mixed in your tank sprayer . One OZ of Chemical With One Gal. Of Water will result in a 1% strength weapon & this will solve most pest problems pretty quickly. A 2% treatment may be needed for some cleanouts and Most All Flea Spray Jobs.  All of your pets,  birds , fish and any humans not treating the area & dressed properly, should leave until the spray is dried on all surfaces. Air Out The Building Also Is A Good Practice. It is then considered a "safe" zone to then re-enter. All of this sounds like an extream measure perhaps but, when you get fleas again it will be from another source than where you treated and cleaned; as that Permethrin used In combination with insect growth regulators  ( IRG ) will normally provide a 100% kill ratio if initial treatment was done right.  With an IGR added  you will have a great weapon to stop bugs dead for long periods , without much need for retreatments as their egg won't hatch ,with insect growth regulators added . With fleas ,spiders ,lady bugs and certain others, no 100% guarantee is possible, as there can be chemical resistance not known, so a different chemical or 2 or 3 may be required to be tried , plus if there is a source of re-infestation from outside the treated areas ,bringing in more bugs , you must stop that too. Leson Here: think like the bug, where would you hide and jump on Old Rover, when he comes by ? The Answers are perhaps the rugs outside the front door, out in the grass or barn , even from the neighbors kids visiting with your kids can bring fleas - and so on. Bring the battle to the enemy &  follow the lable !

Over the years several customers have ask :
 How Do You Use Boric Acid For Pest Control In Its Highest & Best Way ?

The First Answer Is Always Follow The Law , Which Means Follow The Label Instructions.

The Second Answer Is A History Lesson.

Boric Acid is a naturally occurring product that is mined out of the earth in the western deserts of America . It is used in everything today from pesticides as you already know to simple but effective medicines such as to clean Pink Eye in cattle or even to use as an additive in the making glass and or in concrete production.

For pest control one can figure it dehydrates insects rapidly, as a stomach poison. Insect bodies are so small that if you dry them out fast,  they just can not drink enough water to counteract,  the boric acid. They will become more active after exposure to Boric Acid and will walk out in daylght. This may make you think you added bugs to the building,  -  instead of a pest control product -  but, they were hiding there all along. Normally, they will die within 72 hours or less of exposure. When they do generally the egg cycle starts and 21 days later , 30 to 50 babies hatch out to replace the dead adult. Your application of Boric Acid should be enough to catch these new hatchlings and they should die within 24 hours of their exposure to Boric Acid without reaching the egg laying age. Don't worry about dead bugs in the wall as the others will eat them and your boric acid in their bellies.

 As a roach walks through your applications of Boric Acid powder ( back in the walls & under appliances in wet wall areas,  around water pipes) they will  be effected by the static electric charge the powder has as it is a dry & milled product and their own electromagnetism draws the fine dust.  When they are near it, dry powder just attaches to their legs and body.

Along the insects body are its breathing ventricles. Like our own noses they keep these things cleaned ,whenever it  is needed and they do so with their legs & feet. They then run their legs & feet through their mouths and ingest the Boric Acid .

Bingo ! -Dead Bug !

 If you can get them to eat the Boric Acid as a feed,  as opposed to just getting into it,  a much faster kill ratio is always created and so Roach baits were thought of.  First a word about Ant Baits. You can make you own Ant bait product by adding small amounts (tea spoon amounts) to older sugary jams or jellies ( using about a cup full of Jelly) and this makes a fine Ant bait. When used with creamy peanut butter,  this makes a fine protein feeding solution for Ants. The combination of these 2 baits worked for hundreds of years for our ancestors and they worked for us too.

Watch out as the jelly bait is runny. Make loops of masking tape for bait stations or get some green floral water tubes and apply with a squeeze bottle to insert some in these tubes and cut the hole in the rubber top ( on the tube ) a bit more open,  so as to keep ants from dieing in the opening and cloging up your bait station.

Roaches might hit this Ant bait too as they love sugar and protein but the Flour and Bacon Grease Baits Always worked better for Roaches, Waterbugs and the other Bugs in our immediate household Pest Control program target list above except spiders. This bait when made into a soft substance came in handy in cabinets , over door threash holds and in cracks , under tables and public areas were we wanted to treat but powders were not to be used.

We started with white Flour in the 1 cup quantity with 4 to 8 table spoons of Boric Acid added to it and added small pinch quantity of sugar. This made us a truely fine roach bait. Food Coloring will make a staining bait that can be seen, but watch out for the stains.  

Roaches will often come out of hiding just to eat the bait , while we were baiting the room.  The bacon grease was added in small teaspoon quantities as an attractant and to hold the bait together. Its your moisture, but don't go over board. The flour bait should be as thick as a fine window caulking when your finished, so we worked bacon grease into the mixture , only as needed. It also gave us an excuse for cooking Bacon,  when our wifes complained that we were not to eat that "fatning" old Bacon.

If one were to roll this bait out about 1/4 inch thick and then cut this flour bait formula into small 1/2 inch cube sized bait stations and then place them in the corners of cabinets, drawers and in wet wall areas , plus under appliances and in the cracks and crevices of a building where roaches congregate, a very effective roach bait was made for just pennies . If you as an experiment did the same as opposed to paying the price for extermination service you can most likely get fine results. Any excess we had made up was stored in a freezer bag, marked with a label and dated.

Once, I found a forgotten bag stored in a open tool box with dead roaches in it. They had somehow gotten in through a tiny hole ( Eaten Through ) and lived long enough to feed to death.

These baits all required a few minutes of our time and care as a exterminator to make, but we got great results with very Low Toxicity Boric Acid products. Lethal Dose to humans is said to be about that of ordinary table salt   So not very toxic.   Today , you could do this and fix your roach problems with our Boric Acid Products.
